Lick, Lick! Drip, Drip!

Hello Everyone!
Are you ready for the last few weeks??? I love the last bit of time I have with my littles! They absolutely shine in everything they do!  Their confidence has skyrocketed and they feel like big kids.  I love to end the year with some cool fun that all kids love!  Popsicles and Ice Cream! I shared my little unit about popsicles last year, but I have updated and added an ice cream component. This 115 page pack is filled with lots of review activities, including math, writing, poetry, book lists, science, hands on visuals, and so much more. There's also a mini personal finance component. I hope I have time to fit it all in!  The kids will still be learning, but having some cool fun along the way.  Here are a few pics of what is included.

If You think you can use even a small part of the pack,

I hope you have a great end of the year! I hope to be back to post a few more things, but wow! This time of year is also Crazy Busy at home and at school, so I can't promise anything!
Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy!!
Joyfully!

Joyful Endings

Hello Everyone!!
I can't believe how long it has been since my last post.  My apologies.  The end of the year activities and responsibilities took over and when school finally got out, I absolutely crashed!  This summer will be filled with family, family, family, and a little planning for fall.   But I do want to share a couple of things from our last weeks. We had the honor and joyous privilege of meeting author Mac Barnett.  He is the author of many children's books including "Mustache." Mac visited several schools in our district and we had a blast meeting him!  Here's a link to his site. http://macbarnett.com  Thanks for coming Mac!!!
We love you!
And here are a couple of pics.
I mustache that author a question!!!
But I'll shave it for later!

I also wanted to show you a couple of things from our Popsicle unit. We wrote poetry, combined math and word work, and made strategy games.

Use paint sticks for whole group lesson. What words can we make and how much are they worth?

One of the last things we did was to make a take along Tic Tac Toe board from popsicle sticks!

Portable tic tac toe!

OK, friends, that's it for now!!
I am putting the finishing touches on our beginning of the year little theme...Superheroes!
Stay tuned. I'll be posting that very soon!!
Til then, Have a joy-filled day!!!

A Cool Finish with a Personal Finance Touch!

Hello Everyone!
Phew!! We are in the final stretch!  9 more days of first grade fun!! In math we are finishing up with a "cool"personal finance unit.  It's a unit that includes just about everything we've studied in math and social studies. Money, addition and subtraction, fractions, wants and needs, everyday living, etc.  I put together a little unit last year that now includes a personal finance section. "Popsicle Pizzazz" includes some cross- curricular learning/review opportunities that will help the last few days go down smoothly! Here are a few pics.

A PERFECT book to read if you want to combine cool popsicles and personal finance is a recent discovery, "Root Beer and Banana" by Sarah Sullivan.  It is about two girls who accidentally discover friendship and charitable giving through ice pops!! I am so excited to share this story with my littles!!Root Beer and Banana

The popsicle unit is now about 75 pages, but you certainly can pick and choose which learning opportunities to print and do!

Thanks for stopping by!  Stay tuned for pics of our last few days of learning celebrations!!! We appreciate your support!
Well, off to get all my Popsicle sticks ready for next week!!  I hope you have a cool end of the year!!
Joyfully!
