Can you believe it is already November??  What?? Where has the time gone?  October was, of course, sooo busy.  Here are a couple of pics of a few things we were able to accomplish!

This week we are getting into fairy tales!!  One of my favorite units!  I added quite a bit to our Cinderella unit from last year. Along with learning about what a fairy tale includes, we will work on retelling stories, character analysis, plural nouns, past tense verbs, short vowel ck words, and states of matter.  I added some activities to accommodate those objectives.  So if you need a bit more to add to your fairy tale unit, or if you used the unit last year and can use the additions, please redownload.

Reader's Theater and that Little Old Lady noun verb pack

Hello Everyone!
As promised I am back with a couple of little videos showing our mini reader's theater. Oh so fun, simple and sweet! Parents, I took video of all the kids, so stay tuned for future reveals!! :)

These little mini reader's theater scripts are in the Cinderella unit.  Scroll down for the link posted earlier this week.  Reader's Theater is great for building that confidence, fluency, teamwork, risk taking, stepping outside of the comfort zone, and so much more!!!

This coming week we will enjoy a discovery about nouns and verbs.  I've shared two packs before using the book The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything. I bundled them together and added a bit of extra practice on nouns and verbs.  Here are a few pics from the bundle.

I traveled through some fairy tales and found...

Hello Everyone!
We are wrapping up our two week long Reading/Social Studies integrated unit on fairy/folk tales.  We have read so many different Cinderella stories from all over the world, compared, retold, mapped, learned about different cultures, and so much more!  Today we brainstormed some of the different things we found in fairy tales and responded through writing an acrostic and a hands on visual connection.  I love how hard the kids worked on these and the amazing connections they made!! Way to go, kiddos!!

Cinderella

Hello Everyone!
We are having a great week!  I actually got in some guided reading groups today!!  Yippee!!  I love it when all the training and expectations for incorporating D5 actually settles in and works like a well oiled machine!  Sometimes I just look up from what we're doing and just smile because most of the kids are doing it!! Really doing it!!  I am so excited for tomorrow! Way to go, guys!!!

The week after next we will begin our fairy tale unit (integrating our reading and social studies) and I wanted to share what we've been working on. This little unit is more than just reading (retelling, fiction/nonfiction/ poetry, inferring, reader's theater) and social studies.  I've included some word work, writing, hands on visuals, and some math as well.
