I hope you all are doing well! The last couple of days have been rainy! We need the rain soooo bad, so I'm not complaining! In fact, I love a good rainy day!! It means "Cleaning and Creating!" Needless to say, I worked on the "creating " part first! I was able to finish up my Superhero Unit! Are you still trying to figure out your beginning of the year theme? Well, this little unit ended up to be over 100 pages, but it is full of "setting the stage for a positive year" activities. I have included some "Getting to Know You" activities, as well as organizational, incentive, goal setting, ELA, Math, Science, and Just for fun endeavors. Most of the supplies you will need to enjoy and learn through these activities can be found at The Dollar Tree or Target Dollar Spot. Here are just a few pics of what is included.
First Day Poster to color |
Patterns for this little cutie are included in unit |
Use Glow Bracelets for mini portable Venn Diagrams |
A Strategy Game |
A Subitizing Game |
This little unit is Super Free!
I hope that you can use even a small part of this. Please let me know if you spy any typos or if you can think of something else you want me to include!! I can't wait for school to start again!! I'll share pics of hallway and door displays when we get those up!
Now off to do some cleaning and then maybe some more creating! Oh! And I need to read our ELA book for our summer bookstudy. We are working on "Make It Real" by Linda Hoyt. So far, I'm loving her practical strategies for using informational Texts with our littles!!
Looking forward to this joy filled day!! Hope you are too!
Joyfully!
Nancy
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for this unit! I love the POWer pellets and I am totally doing that in the fall. I have superhero fluency for letters and sight words so I can use the skittles for their rewards :) I also love your first day awards for my kindergarten class.

Hi Nancy! I just would like to say that your generosity is overwhelming. Thank-you for your willingness to always share. It is so refreshing since we live in such a GREEDY world. Your love for your students is reflected in the design of your lessons- always making learning meaningful and fun, but more importantly your love for children shines through in your willingness to share the wealth of your lesson ideas so other students benefit as well...it's not about the mighty dollar with you...this is very apparent. I enjoy reading your BLOG. You are my HERO!
ReplyDeleteNancy once again I want to thank you for your extremely generous sharing of your talents with other teachers. I have always looked forward to all of your postings and ideas. I have reccommended your blog to a friend who is re entering th world of teaching and she is thrilled with your knowledge and generosity. You rock!
ReplyDeleteWOW This is an amazing unit. I am so excited to use it for my classroom this year. Many thanks for all of your work and effort to create such amazing units for the classroom.
ReplyDeleteWow! No other word for it. So many fun ideas.
ReplyDeleteJust a couple of thoughts-- Could you change it to "If I WERE" instead of "If I WAS" for the writing pages? On the counting back from 30 page-- I couldn't get to 25. The only other thing that puzzled me was that there are a few other vowels on the coloring vowel/consonant page that are not included in the key...
Excited about putting some WOW into the first days of school!
Hello Anon! I fixed the vowel color page. Thanks for your eagle eye!! The poem If I Was a Superhero was not written by me. The author wanted me to keep as it. On the counting down page- everything should work! Thanks again for your editing help!! You're the best!! :) Nancy
