Pinwheel Power

Hello Everyone!
I love doing activities with my kiddos that take no printing, copying, laminating, cutting, tracing, organizing, bagging, passing out, gathering up, etc, etc, etc. This Sci Fri activity is one we did on the spur of the moment after we talked all week about blowing dandelion seeds and how the wind carries the seeds to all different places.  One of my little genius kiddos compared blowing a dandelion to blowing a pinwheel!  Well, of course we had to incorporate a craft connection and make pinwheels!!  We took a square piece of paper (just copy paper) and colored whatever design we saw in our mind's eye.  We flipped the paper over and drew diagonal lines coming in from each corner towards the center. We put a dot on every other corner.  Then simply gathered all the dotted corners and brought them to the center. We stuck a pish pin through all the layers of paper in the center of the square and then pushed it into the eraser end of a new pencil.  Voila! A beautiful pinwheel!  We, of course, had to practice blowing and running with our pinwheels!  So fun, easy, kid made, and applicable!!!
Great job, kids!  I have a feeling you're going to make some more at home!!!  Get ready, parents!!! :)

Blow all your cares away!!!
Joyfully!
Nancy
