It's All About the Party!!

Hello Everyone!!
We are still celebrating the new year!!  Why not?

This morning we started off with a fun whole group Party Hat Balance Activity.  I simply cut out a giant hat shape and added some spaces for 2 addition sentences on either side of the hat. I wrote out some large numbers from 0 to 9. The kids brought their whiteboards down to the floor. We randomly pulled the first 2 numbers and then had to think of another addition sentence for the other side of the "balance."  Every kiddo had a chance to manipulate numbers as others wrote facts on their whiteboards.

This afternoon we worked hard on adjectives, this time describing what we think 2013 was going to be like.  After brainstorming, we got busy writing and creating. Then of course we had to add our party horns!  What better way to bring in the new year than with nice loud part horns!!  Kids loved being able to be noisy in school!  It was worth it to see their great writing and adorable little crafted faces!!

  5. I really appreciated how you posted the New Years' activities early. We started back before you did and we did these Jan. 2. They turned out amazingly and my students LOVED doing them. It was so much fun to see how yours turned out, too. We have been doing A TON of your activities and you have really inspired us. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your amazing teaching.
